Pre-Sales & Selection

How do I select the right plate heat exchanger for my application?+

PHE selection depends on five primary factors: process duty (heat load and temperatures), fluid properties (viscosity, fouling tendency, chemistry), design pressure and temperature, available pressure drop, and any hygienic, leak-detection, or material-compatibility requirements. Our engineering team can size a unit from your process data sheet. The more information you provide upfront, the more accurate the quotation.

What information do you need to provide a quotation?+

At minimum: hot-side and cold-side fluids, mass or volumetric flow rates, inlet and outlet temperatures, design and operating pressures, allowable pressure drop, and material requirements. Additional useful information includes fouling factors, frame material preference, gasket adhesive type, and any code requirements (PED, ASME, ABS, etc.). Use our Request a Quote form to submit a complete enquiry.

Do you offer custom-engineered solutions?+

Yes. ARES PHE designs and manufactures custom heat exchangers across all product families: gasketed, brazed, welded, semi-welded, and shell & plate. Custom engineering includes special plate materials, non-standard frame configurations, exotic gasket compounds, and integrated skids. Our R&D team also supports OEM partners with bespoke plate geometries developed in-house.

Can you size a unit for my exact process duty?+

Yes. Our application engineers use proprietary thermal-hydraulic software calibrated against AHRI-certified test data. We can also accommodate custom design constraints such as compact footprints, specific connection orientations, and integration with existing pipework. For self-service sizing, our online Selection Software is available.

What is the typical lead time?+

Standard gasketed units typically ship within 4–6 weeks from order confirmation. Custom-engineered units, large frames, exotic materials, and certified marine units may require 8–12 weeks. Brazed plate heat exchangers are often available from stock for standard sizes. We confirm a firm delivery date with each quotation.

Is there a minimum order quantity?+

There is no minimum order for standard products; single units are routinely supplied for replacement and project applications. For OEM partners, volume agreements are available with preferential pricing and inventory management.

Do you supply OEM and private-label units?+

Yes. ARES PHE has an established OEM Supply programme that includes private-label branding, custom documentation, dedicated production scheduling, and confidentiality agreements. See our OEM Supply page or Distributor Programme for partnership enquiries.

Technical & Engineering

What materials are available for plates and gaskets?+

Plate materials include AISI 304, AISI 316, AISI 316L, SMO 254, Titanium, Titanium Palladium, Hastelloy C276, Nickel 200/201, Inconel 625, and Tantalum. Gasket compounds include NBR, EPDM, EPDM Peroxide, FKM (Viton), HNBR, FFKM, and food-grade NBR-FDA / EPDM-FDA. Specific recommendations depend on process chemistry, temperature, and certification requirements.

What pressure and temperature ratings can ARES PHE units handle?+

Standard gasketed units: up to 25 bar and 180°C. Brazed (ABR) units: up to 45 bar. Fully welded (AFW) units: up to 40 bar and 350°C. Semi-welded (ASW) units: up to 30 bar and 200°C. Welded block (AWB) units: up to 60 bar and 400°C, with NACE MR0175 compliance available for sour service. Shell & plate units (ASP): up to 100 bar and 450°C. Final ratings depend on plate geometry, gasket selection, and frame design.

Are your plate heat exchangers AHRI certified?+

Our AH-Series is certified under the AHRI Standard 400 programme for Liquid-to-Liquid Heat Exchangers, providing third-party verified thermal performance. Certified ratings remove the need for a safety margin to cover performance uncertainty. Contact us to confirm the AHRI certification status of a specific model.

What standards and codes do you build to?+

ARES PHE units are designed and manufactured to PED 2014/68/EU (Module H), ASME Section VIII Division 1 (U-Stamp), API-662, EN 13445, and AD 2000. Marine units are certified by internationally recognised classification societies such as Bureau Veritas, ABS, RINA, Lloyd's Register, and RINA. Hygienic units are designed in line with 3-A and EHEDG hygienic design principles, with FDA-compliant food-grade gaskets.

Can I extend the capacity of an existing unit?+

Yes. This is one of the key advantages of gasketed plate heat exchangers. Frames are designed with extra plate-pack length to allow capacity increases by adding plates. We size frames with 20–40% spare capacity by default unless specified otherwise. Capacity expansion does not require a new frame in most cases.

What's the difference between gasketed, brazed, welded, and shell & plate types?+

Gasketed PHEs are fully serviceable and ideal for clean fluids up to 180°C. Brazed PHEs are compact and pressure-tolerant but not serviceable. Semi-welded units pair gasketed and welded plate channels, used for refrigerants and aggressive media on one side. Fully welded and welded block units handle high temperature, high pressure, and aggressive chemistry. Shell & plate units combine plate efficiency with shell-and-tube robustness for the most demanding duties.

Do you provide CFD or thermal simulation reports?+

Our R&D centre uses CFD analysis during plate development and can provide thermal-hydraulic simulation summaries for AP-Series and custom designs. For project-specific simulations beyond standard documentation, contact our engineering team through the RFQ form.

Service & Support

How often do gaskets need replacing?+

Gasket service life depends heavily on operating temperature, pressure cycling, and chemistry. Typical intervals are 3–7 years for water-side service, 2–4 years for chemical or aggressive service, and 5–10 years for low-stress duties such as district energy. Our after-sales team can provide condition-based recommendations and supply genuine replacement gaskets sized to your exact unit.

Can I get spare parts for older ARES PHE units?+

Yes. Every ARES PHE unit is permanently archived with its full design data and bill of materials. Plates, gaskets, frames, and connections can be supplied for units manufactured at any point in our history. Provide your unit serial number for fastest service.

Do you offer on-site service or commissioning?+

On-site commissioning, plate-pack inspection, gasket replacement, and performance verification services are available globally through our service network in Türkiye, the USA and China, plus authorised service partners in additional regions. See After-Sales & Service for full details.

What warranty comes with ARES PHE products?+

Standard warranty is 12 months from commissioning or 18 months from shipment, whichever expires first. Extended warranty programmes are available for OEM partners and large project orders. Warranty covers manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship under normal operating conditions.

Do you have global service support?+

Yes. ARES PHE has subsidiaries in the USA (Arlington, TX) and China (Shanghai), plus an authorised distributor network across more than 50 countries. Contact our global network for the nearest service support.
